Press-Fit Bathroom Faucet or Spigot Extension
thingiverse
Tired of your small faucet? A narrow stream is no match for your sink's size. You're constantly reaching across the sink to get water, touching the edge with your hands. Is your faucet just too tiny for your sink? Then use this press-fit attachment to extend the flow to the center of your basin. The water fans out into a beautiful shape. The script that generates this prosthetic can automatically taper the press-fit from base to end, so you can customize it for your specific spigot. This script won't work on arched faucets and is designed for relatively straight ones only. I've been using this since April 2016, and it's still going strong. Here are my print settings: Printer: My no-name i3 clone made in China Rafts: No Supports: Yes Notes: I recommend printing in ABS because it doesn't crack as easily or deform when exposed to high water temperatures. This was one of the first prints I ever did, so you can see a raft in one of the pictures. If your skills are better than mine, then a raft might not be necessary - a brim could be enough. Print it upright as shown in the pictures because this orientation prevents cracking between layers. I also used supports for this print. Unless you change the outer shape of the design, I still recommend using supports according to your slicer software. One picture contains the keywords and where they relate to the actual part. Refer to this diagram when customizing this design for your own faucet. Post-Printing Removing the support material is a bit tricky, as shown in the first post-print picture. I recommend clamping down on your part using a bench vise and pulling out the supports with pliers. Without a decent bench vise, you'll need more muscle power. How I Designed This I used OpenSCAD to design this. It works well for my needs and is free. If you have any programming skills at all, I highly recommend learning and using OpenSCAD.
