Prescription Glasses

thingiverse

My prescription glasses snapped in two, prompting a bold decision: instead of duct-taping them together, I opted to unleash my inner UltraNerd by 3D printing an entirely new set of frames. These sleek horn-rimmed frames perfectly match the design of my FatHead brand prescription glasses - it seems I've got a head that's bigger than average, which is quite fitting. For those interested in replicating this project, check out the step-by-step instructions on how I used OpenSCAD to bring these custom frames to life. Update: I've since upgraded to version 2 of my 3D-printed glasses, complete with swept-back earpieces that provide a snug fit. I printed these babies in Aqua Translucent material with zero percent infill and was thrilled to see them turn out perfectly on my trusty Ultimaker printer - my old Printrbot wouldn't have handled the intricate details of the bridge area nearly as well. Now, donning my shiny new aqua-colored glasses, I feel like a superhero - Aqua Man himself!
