BoSAe 222 Marl clay Gift by W. M. Flinders Petrie H 13.6 +x cm, Ø 9.8 cm A partly reconstructed decorated vessel, dating back to the Naqada II period (3600-3300 B.C.), showcases D-Ware's unique style, imitating stone vases in its design. The vessel features two ships, one with two cabins and a standard, which were common on these types of vessels. Additionally, a gazelle, sails, plants, and wavy decor patterns are depicted on the vessel. The standards, used to identify cities during pharaonic times, can be interpreted as signs for ship registration or divine emblems like Min, Hathor, Neith, and Horus. Created by David Sabel
