Predator Action Pliers Mk2
thingiverse
This evolution of the [Predator Action Pliers](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2917515) grab-toy model significantly improves the design to effectively address two major issues with the original model: a weak grip and insufficient structural strength. To strengthen the grip, I applied Ozcymm's approach but modified it by moving the piston back one tooth instead of shortening it. This allowed me to take advantage of the new gap at the front-end of the piston to add additional teeth that will provide an even more secure grasp when grabbing objects. The top support frame is now stronger due to the addition of a traverse triangular beam and hemispheres over the cores of the small gears. Initially, I was concerned about how to merge the beam with the complicated shape of the support frame while keeping the underside intact without compromising it or interfering with moving parts. However, in the end, the Boundary Fill tool made this combination possible with just a few clicks. The stronger frame reduces flexing, which in turn enhances grip performance. It can now securely grasp small objects, such as the Jeep's roll bar shown in one of the photos. Two versions were printed using "silver" and "gold" PLA filaments. The silvery version resembles brushed metal but still looks neat. The golden version is exceptionally shiny; unfortunately, it was challenging to capture good photos with my limited setup. Thanks for your feedback. I hope you enjoy this upgraded version!
