Precision Wire Stripper
thingiverse
I regularly use 30 Ga "Wire-Wrap" wire or other small gauged stranded wire when prototyping and assembling many of my electronic projects. Although I've downloaded and used a number of the multi-gauge stripping tools found on Thingiverse, reliably striping small gauged wires without nicking the conductors has still been difficult to achieve. The repeatability of many strippers seem very dependent on the hand compression force and therefore yielded inconsistent results for small gauge wirings. To resolve this issue, I developed this hand held PRECISION WIRE STRIPPING tool so that I could easily strip the tough, small gauge insulation WITHOUT nicking or cutting into the conductor(s) themselves. Is uses a standard 'utility blade' knife edge yet remains safe, easy to use, with reliable 'nick-free' strips every time! The key to this design is that it features two small screws are which are used to PRECISLY set the depth of insulation penetration. A few test strips of the wire during tool 'calibration' and your good to go! Quality, nick-free wire stripping is easy! This tool should work well for any common solid or stranded hook-up wire from <30 Ga on up to 22 Ga or so. The 'depth of cut' setting is easy to make and once set, is precisely achieved every time. Make a few copies of the tool (different colors?) for set-and-forget use for each of your common wire types. Enjoy and stay safe!
