Praxis Zayante Carbon Crank Protector
thingiverse
My original drive side crank protector that shipped with the Zayante Carbon cranks started peeling, probably because I fiddled with it one too many times trying to get the alignment just right, or maybe I clipped the edge of the tape with my foot during a ride and road grime took its toll. Whatever happened Praxis doesn't sell replacement protectors so I had to come up with a way to get a protector for the non drive side crank arm or peel the drive side protector off of the cranks and let time take its course. I opted to come up with something that would work with off-the-shelf tape. This is a template to trace crank protectors using 2" UHMW "helicopter" tape. I trace the paper side of the tape, rounding the corners after cutting out the template because I thought about adding a radius but figured it was easier to cut sharp corners and round by hand afterward. Also included is a PDF with a full-size outline if you want to trace yourself (be sure to print 1:1), and a DXF is also included if you want to make your own. Print using whatever settings you prefer. Drive side pictures show the protector shipped with the crankset, while non drive side pictures show the templated piece.
