Prajnaparamita

The Goddess of Transcendent Wisdom is a personification of a sacred scripture. In Tantric Buddhism, she is revered as the mother of all enlightened beings. During King Jayavarman VII's reign in Cambodia (1181-1215), who established Buddhism as the official state faith, the lines between deity and ruler became increasingly blurred. He associated his mother with the Goddess of Transcendent Wisdom and portrayed himself as an embodiment of the Buddha, thus imbuing sculptures with a dual significance, representing both divine and kingly authority. This artifact was scanned by The Minneapolis Institute of Art.
