Prairie Style laser cut mail box
thingiverse
This Mail Box was designed in response to the Prairie school of architecture, drawing inspiration from its unique style. As part of my Industrial Design coursework at Ohio State University, this project aimed to create a functional mailbox that could be mounted on the exterior of a building. Due to my apartment living arrangement, I wasn't able to use it myself, so I hung it in my room for decorative purposes. Two mounting holes are located on the back of the design, allowing users to attach it securely with screws. The body was crafted from 1/4-inch plywood using a laser cutter, and Baltic Birch wood was chosen for its durability. In addition to the wooden components, three panels of glass and translucent paper were used to create the windows, adding an extra layer of visual interest. The letters that adorn the mailbox were designed using Adobe Illustrator, and can be found in the folder labeled "illustrator." Some design elements are duplicates, marked with a corresponding number to ensure clarity. If any parts or components are missing, please include a comment and I will promptly upload them.
