Airlangga or often spelled Erlangga, is the founder of Kahuripan Kingdom, who ruled from 1009 to 1042 as Abhiseka Sri Maharaja Rakai Halu Sri Dharmawangsa Airlangga Anantawikramottunggadewa. The name Airlangga translates to "Water that Jumps." Born in 990, he was the son of Udayana, king of Bedahulu kingdom from Warmadewa House, and Mahendradatta, a daughter of Wangsa Isyana from Medang Kingdom. Following King's death in 1042, a statue of Airlangga was created in honor. It is a likeness of Bathara Wisnu sitting on Garuda Mukti, a mythical creature known for its strength, courage, and supernatural powers. Despite Garuda's ferocity, Bathara Vishnu is depicted as taming it and using it as his throne, showcasing Vishnu's wisdom, refinement, and supernatural abilities. This statue resides at Airlangga University in Surabaya, Indonesia. It was crafted by Brian Barito, Rizki Fahrudin Ulin, Yulita Eka Rana Mulyono, and Nugroho Satrio Utomo.
