The Shpagin Machine Pistol is a Soviet submachine gun designed by Georgy Shpagin to be an affordable, reliable, and simplified alternative to the PPD-40. Russians often refer to this weapon as papasha, which means daddy, and it was sometimes called the burp gun due to its high fire rate. The PPSh is a magazine-fed selective fire submachine gun that uses an open bolt, blowback action.
