PPE - Xtreme Mask Buckle Unbranded
thingiverse
Creality just dropped a rebranded version that I thought was pretty arrogant. I reworked this one to be 1/4 inch longer and included the Fusion 360 file. I'm a big guy, and the original fit me okay, but it was a bit too tight. This design is thin enough for PLA printing and works fantastically. The flexible part behind the name is half thickness, which makes it more pliable. I was hesitant about this plastic piece until a local paramedic asked around our small town if anyone had a 3D printer. They recommended I go see her, so I did. She told me that protocols now require treating every patient as if they have COVID-19 and wearing masks at all times, even in the ambulance barn. The new rule is to stay at the barn for the entire shift; previously, team one would return while team two was on call. Wearing these masks behind the ears causes significant irritation and skin rashes. After printing one and trying it out, I realized how much more effective it makes the masks. They hold tight to your face, and talking doesn't cause the mask to move, eliminating the need to touch your face and adjust the mask. In my opinion, this should be mandatory for healthcare professionals to use. I recommend printing these and donating them to local ambulances and hospitals free of charge. I'll keep printing them until they tell me to stop already. I added a heavy-duty model (PPE-X HD), which has minor differences. The tabs are .1 inches longer, mainly due to my printer settings. The HD Model works flawlessly, bouncing back into shape without deforming and providing the right amount of pressure!
