PPE Face Shield Joint (For small bed)
thingiverse
This design builds upon the original 3DVerkstan face shield meant specifically for healthcare providers. Carlos Sabogal and Madeline Cunningham modified it to fit smaller print beds, approximately 225mm x 145mm in size, which are typically used by machines like a MakerBot Replicator or Flash Forge. In initial prototypes, we found that placing the connection in the center of the headband resulted in a bump at the joint line, leading to irritation on the forehead. To resolve this issue, we moved the joint to the side where it no longer comes into contact with the skin. We also received feedback from nurses indicating that the transparency would pop loose from the front pegs over time. In response, we added small barbs to the front pegs to minimize this problem. This design was created for ppeSF.org, a website aimed at supporting dedicated healthcare providers in the San Francisco Bay area. Please note that there are different versions available for PLA, ABS, and PETG materials. It is essential to select the correct file version based on the material you use, as this will ensure proper sanitation. Stay healthy!
