The stock PP3DP "wind barrier" for UP Plus, UP Plus2, and some similar printers (Afinia, etc.) is suitable for PLA but fails when it comes to ABS. The air passing through the "closed flap" causes ABS prints to warp. I've been using a redesigned wind barrier from PrintMo that works flawlessly with ABS. If you want to switch from ABS to something hotter like PETG, PC, or Nylon (all possible given our all-metal hotend!), the small axial fan cooling the cold end of the extruder isn't enough. For long or very hot prints, you might experience jams in the throat or underextrusion. That's why I created a new design from scratch featuring a radial fan. Radial fans can push more air at higher speeds than regular axial fans and are easily obtainable (~$5 on eBay delivered). They also produce minimal noise compared to the provided fan. You can even find "super strong" ones that can push a huge amount of air, which you can slow down with a 7809 or 7805 to achieve quiet operation while still having plenty of airflow. I deliberately didn't include any mounting arms for the fan mount as I prefer using hot glue (also known as hotsnot or hotmelt glue) to secure the duct and fan. This seals the hole between them and provides some vibration dampening. It's still easy to remove the fan from the duct if needed. The exit hole of the duct projects air at 30-45 degrees upwards, ensuring it doesn't interfere with the print. This part won't help you print PLA or any other material that requires part cooling! For those cases, use the original PP3DP design and open the door to cool the part. Sources are available on Onshape.
