Pozzo del Merro

The Pozzo del Merro is a karst dolina located in the countryside north of Rome, between the Cornicolani Mountains and Macchia di Gattaceca, within the municipality of Sant'Angelo Romano. According to initial studies from Tor Vergata University, the cavity reaches a depth of 392 meters, which is the maximum limit that measurements have reached so far. Since its discovery, probes dropped into it have not yet touched the bottom, and ongoing research continues.
