Poxy Mushroom Brush (modular)
thingiverse
A mushroom brush is indeed a tool for cleaning mushrooms. This particular brush is shaped like a mushroom, but that doesn't make for an ideal title. Interestingly, its design includes three-dimensionally printed bristles, which can be very cool, but also comes with several issues - take care when slicing and printing them! The bristles work best when printed in PETG, based on my experience. I'm eager to hear about other people's experiences as well, but PLA proved to be a complete failure for me. Flexible filaments might also be worth trying out. In the printed part, the bristles stretch between a sacrificial wall and the base. A straight cut releases them easily, unlike the one shown for the larger red/white mushroom brush, which requires a serrated knife to do the trick. The smaller mushroom design is modular in its nature. The bristles come as a block with an M22x3 socket, allowing for easy swapping of the 'handle' part of the model. The larger mushroom is currently a single monolithic block, but its 'cap' cover can be printed separately for either design, offering interesting color choices. If there's enough interest, I can upload a full model suitable for multi-color capable printers, including a separate model for the 'dots'. Putting the small cap on without cracking it was quite challenging. The uploaded model is already 5% oversized, which worked well in this case. If it sits too loose, you can add a dab of glue or print it a few percent smaller. Scaling the models might not work well because the bristles need to have specific dimensions to function properly.
