Powerfist (Princess Auto) Deflection (Dial) Gauge Holder

thingiverse

This device is used to level a Height Balance Point (HBP) on a Makerbot Replicator printer. It holds a 2.25-inch Deflection Gauge with a .375-inch center mount and four rare earth magnets (8mmx3mm), both available at Princess Auto in Canada. The Gauge is #2970986, priced at $18.99, while the Magnets are #8183915 at $2.49 each. With full insertion, there's only 2.5mm pressure on the gauge spring, ensuring no deflection. The recommended printing settings are at .27 layer height, 15% infill, and one shell. Insert the Deflection Gauge into the holder until it's flush with the bottom. Home your axis, position the nozzle in front of the right-back screw, and use a paper or feeler gauge to adjust for zero deflection everywhere. This design is based on Heathzap's Tinkercad object but modified to avoid excessive downward force on the HBP and better fit the Deflection Gauge and Magnets.
