Power Use: Thing-O-Matic
thingiverse
Tracking Thing-O-Matic's energy usage, we discovered that at idle, it only uses 10 Watts. However, when you enable the button from RepG Control Panel, it consumes 44.75 Watts. Maintaining a 100C print bed adds an additional 41.75 Watts above idle while keeping the temperature at 220C for the MK7 requires an extra 46.5 Watts. During printing, with both MK7 and bed set to 220C and 100C respectively, the power consumption amounts to 107.75 Watts. A 8-hour print at $0.07 per kilowatt hour will cost you $0.06. For a detailed analysis, check out http://www.protoparadigm.com/2011/10/makerbot-thing-o-matic-power-consumption/. We'll soon have similar data for Ultimaker and Mosaic too. This should serve as a good starting point, but more accurate predictions are on the horizon. Feel free to share your observations in the comments section.
