Power Supply Panel for ATX PSU with spring loaded connectors
thingiverse
Thanks to modelatolyesi for creating their openSCAD power supply cover design. I quickly replaced some wire connectors they used and added my own hole for speaker spring-loaded terminals that I was employing. This file is fairly straightforward, with the flexibility to modify it easily despite its reliance on many magic numbers. The power supply cover is stretched slightly from the original model due to a 2mm larger PSU. I worried initially about whether it would fit, but fortunately it does. If you'd like to alter the height of the original design, please take a look at my openSCAD file for details. This version includes a spot for the Hobby King amp-meter, which I believe I own, though it's currently nowhere to be found. I was also inspired by AgentBauman's video where he showcased his own power supply cover remake. However, I opted not to use SketchUp this time around. One aspect of his design that I appreciated and incorporated into my version is the idea of using a PS_good holder for the LED light - I added a spot for a 5mm LED along with the letters "GOOD" above it. The four wires protruding from the front will be used to power fan connectors on my soldering station once they're properly soldered in place. These fans typically come from donated desktop computers. I'm satisfied with this creation but would have built it differently if given another chance. A height increase is a must, considering there's only about 18cm of space behind the panel and before the PSU - too little when working with stiff and large wires such as those in these power supplies. A more reasonable goal might be about 40cm (or 38cm). In terms of print settings: - No raft - Supports: none needed - Resolution: 0.2mm for fine detail - Infill density at 15% for adequate support without over-consuming resources - Notes: I printed it rather slowly, which was worth it due to its simplicity and relatively easy-to-print nature - requiring approximately 21m of filament and about six hours
