Power Supply Cover Taz4
thingiverse
This Thing is a power supply cover. The power supply is 24v, 480w, replacing the broken PS for a Taz4 printer. I guess the OEM power supplies for the Taz4 are known to be weak and underpowered. They also don't have a switch. I went with the Letour S-480-24 instead of the Mean Well because I'm cheap. There are two versions. I started out planning four holes to mount the cover securely, but there are only three holes in the case. I was going to add a hole to the PS case for the extra screw, but it turned out that the three screws worked fine. I decided not to drill the extra hole in the case because I would have to open it up to get the metal chips out. Now it looks like a screw is missing. Not worth reprinting the cover. So there are three and four hole versions with and without countersinks if you don't want to use flat head screws. I ran a 10-32 tap through the existing holes in the case to provide threads for the mounting screws. I desoldered the OEM printer cable from the old PS and reused it on the new one. There are zip ties on the cables inside the cover so the cables pull on the cover, not the connectors. The ABS I used for printing showed some separations on the layer lines in a few spots. I used acetone vapor post-printing to help with the layer bonding. I didn't want the part to split on the layer lines during use. I used three perimeter wall lines and 20% infill, and the part seems pretty stout. The link says 20a-500w, but I got a 480w (what I was expecting). It can't be 20a and 500w.
