I'm just going to toss this idea out there, see if it sparks anything in you. My laptop charger decided to give up the ghost, and instead of buying a new one I figured why not try fixing it? After all, what's the worst that could happen? As it turned out, the issue was a loose solder joint, which I managed to fix with ease. However, these power supply shells are incredibly durable - it took some serious elbow grease (and a Dremel) to remove the outer casing, rendering it useless. But here's where things got interesting: thanks to my trusty 3D printer, I was able to whip up a new shell in no time. And the best part? I can customize it to my heart's content! As a fluid mechanicist by trade, I decided to add a little something extra - a Von Karman vortex street design that really makes this charger stand out. I'm thrilled with how it turned out, and I hope you find yourself inspired by this little DIY project of mine.
