Power Strip Desk Mount
thingiverse
I designed a clamp for mounting a power strip to the edge of a desk at an angled position. I estimated that a 40-degree angle would be ideal, allowing easy access while reaching across the desk from any direction. My design features a 1.5-inch thick countertop as the base material. The clamp securely wraps around the edge of the desk, holding it firmly in place. To prevent scratching or sliding, I used adhesive-backed rubber pads. These pads are designed to provide a secure grip without damaging the desk surface. No modifications were necessary to the power strip itself. The existing mounting holes are utilized to secure the strip in place. #4-40 x 1/2 machine screws hold the power strip firmly, with nuts inserted into a slot and screws inserted from the front side. A single #8-32 machine screw is used to clamp the strip onto the desk, fitting snugly into a nut within a dedicated slot. This design was specifically tailored around the Defiant 6-Outlet Surge Protector with 6 ft Cord (part number YLPT-43-6FT), available at Home Depot. The adhesive-backed rubber pads used in this project are identical to those sold by Waxman, a brand found at Lowe's, and come in packs of six, each measuring 1 inch x 4 inches in size.
