Power Plug with switch and fuse for Prusa I3 3D printer
thingiverse
I am working on fixing my printer Prusa I3, M-505. It's got a single terminal block, making it difficult to turn on/off - that's just not very practical. While browsing Chinese websites, I stumbled upon something called an electrical power control unit with rocker switches and a fuse holder: http://www.dx.com/fr/p/electrical-power-control-on-off-rocker-switches-with-indicator-light-fuse-base-139918 This product has a fuse holder but no fuse. You can get any 0.8 or 1 Ampere fuse, such as this pack of fuses from 3E: http://www.dx.com/fr/p/bonatech-5-x-20mm-250v-glass-tube-fuse-pack-silver-transparent-50-pcs-0-5a-20a-303571 To do this project you'll need: A basic cable, like the ones for PCs. 2 units like the DX unit above, from Ali, BG, or any other source. Some 0.75 mm² wire, taken from your original printer cord. You will also need a 3D printed cover, and some DIY skills - you'll be using soldering irons, pliers, screwdrivers and other tools. On my printer, the screws I used were in line with a "tongue" on my object. But for my printer model, the original screws worked just fine. The instructions include how to put the front screws using a screwdriver from behind the switch hole, and a little hole on the right side of your object for another screwdriver. Don't forget to use a multimeter - it's essential, and if you need any further guidance check out my photos showing the electrical wiring. You should be comfortable with DIY tasks and soldering before tackling this project.
