myminifactory
Cylindrical tripod vessels are often discovered as funerary gifts in high-ranking burial sites at Teotihuacan. These vessels feature an abundance of iconographic details created through various techniques: incised patterns, excavated designs and painted stucco. A recurring sign carved around the vessel's circumference has been deciphered as a "reptile eye" symbol, used during the Late Classic period as one of the 20 day identifiers in the 260-day Mesoamerican calendar system.
