Pottery Earplug Location: The Peachtree site (31Ce2), located in Cherokee County, North Carolina. Period: Dating back to the Mississippian and Pisgah phases, spanning from AD 1000 to 1600. Material: Crafted from ceramic. Dimensions: Measuring 32.3 mm in length, 12.4 mm in width, and 11.7 mm in thickness. Notes: Catalogued as 1965rp31, the original artifact (catalog # 384955) is housed at the US National Museum of Natural History in Washington. A modeled replica can be found in the North Carolina Archaeological Collection, Research Laboratories of Archaeology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
