Pottermore Wand
thingiverse
This is the wand my boyfriend was assigned by Olivander's wand shop on the Pottermore website. I modeled it in Maya directly from the artwork given by the website. Now you too can join the fight against the evil dragon Smaug!!! Go forth, noble warrior! Print Settings Printer Brand: Prusa Printer: Prusa Steel Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.1-0.2mm Infill: 20% Notes: I printed both parts vertically, as shown in the .stl files. I used supports for the shaft, but none for the handle. Each part took about 45 minutes to an hour to print. NB. My boyfriend's wand said 10" (and surprisingly swishy, lol), but if yours is different, and you want to be accurate to the description, you can change the scale along the length of the wand in whatever printing software you're using (I use Cura). Make sure you keep the other two dimensions' scale at 100% and the two parts should still slot together well. Post-Printing Assembly Once printed, the parts fit together easily. The shaft has a ~5mm recess where the handle fits. It can only go in one way, so no worries about putting it in the wrong orientation. I used gorilla glue to hold them together. I gave both parts a decent enough sand-down before painting, a good layer of primer, a layer of brown acrylic paint, and finally some darker browns and blacks for weathering. (Paint job's a bit dodgy as I only had a super fat brush and didn't feel like going to the shop)
