Poster Display Monolith

Poster Display Monolith

As technical program chair for IEEE SoutheastCon 2014, I had to figure out how the short paper posters would be showcased. I was looking for something inexpensive, easy to set up quickly, and eye-catching... something that also would create a better traffic flow pattern than the usual line-of-posters arrangement. Therefore, I designed these 8-foot-tall, 4-foot-wide, freestanding, triangular-base, monoliths. Each monolith consists of three 4'x8' sheets of 1/2" thick black sound-absorbing board (totaling less than $30) held together by nine 3D-printed clamps. A monolith can be assembled or disassembled in just a few minutes without using any tools. You attach your posters or other materials to the textured black surface of the board using standard push pins.
