Post-medieval comb

In December 2018, a volunteer with the Friends of York Walls unearthed an 18th century comb beneath Fishergate Postern Tower's staircase in York. The discovery was made possible by an excavation that paved the way for electricity supply installation to the medieval structure. Crafted from African elephant ivory, the comb is likely to have been wielded by a former tower resident.
