In John Ringo's "Aldenata" novel series, the Posleen are a race of genetically engineered reptilian centaurs, supposedly designed by a long lost race - the Aldenata - to be the ultimate warriors. Imagine a centaur with the speed of a greyhound, the agility of a gazelle, the armor and strength of a crocodile topped off with human level intelligence....scary.
