Our design hinges on readily available components that can be swiftly assembled into functioning ventilators. The goal was to minimize manufacturing complexities by leveraging existing parts, thereby facilitating mass production worldwide without additional delays. This design integrates an Ambu-Bag, a timer, and a switch valve, as well as a gas monitor. The air hose directly connects to hospital supplies while the switch and timer regulate breaths per minute, and the gas monitor controls oxygen percentage for the patient. The Ambu-bag features vital components such as 400cc of precisely controlled air, a peep valve, and filters that safeguard others after exhalation. This system relies on positive pressure inside the lungs to empty the Ambu-bag and facilitate natural exhalation. The switch valve then opens up for the next breath to occur. Material SelectionOur materials were chosen for distinct reasons, whether it be convenience, abundance, or desired features. The Child Ambu Spur II Ambu-bag was selected due to its 400cc tidal volume. This bag also includes a peep valve adjustable in increments of 5 cmH20, an exhalation valve, and necessary filters to protect others from the respiratory droplets. The inlet gas monitor will control volume, pressure, and oxygen percentage flowing through the system from hospital infrastructure. Lastly, the timer and switch value can be set to regulate breaths per minute and I:E ratio.
