Richard Engelmann, a German sculptor, created the Gipsabguss Porträt “Ernst Hardt” in 1914/15. Ernst Hardt was a writer, theater director, and radio executive. Photo: Maass/WDR-Archiv Ernst Hardt sits in a studio at Westdeutsche Rundfunk AG in Cologne around 1930. "Like most portrait artists, Engelmann naturally wanted to immortalize prominent figures of his time, including himself," Opitz notes in "Ein Gentlemankünstler, Leben und Werk des Bildhauers Richard Engelmann (1868-1966)," published in Weimar in 2000 on page 224.
