József Rippl-Rónai, born on May 23, 1861, was a pioneering Hungarian painter who boldly introduced modern artistic movements to the Hungarian art scene. Returning to Hungary, he initially faced lukewarm reception but eventually garnered critical acclaim with his highly successful exhibition "Rippl-Rónai Impressions 1890-1900". A true artist at heart, Rippl-Rónai believed that an artist's entire life, from their work to their personal style, was significant. This led him to explore design, resulting in notable commissions such as the Andrássy palace dining room and stained-glass window for the Ernst Museum in Budapest. Between 1911 and 1913, his exhibitions in Frankfurt, Munich, and Vienna were met with great enthusiasm. Rippl-Rónai's final major work, a portrait of his dear friend Zorka, was created in 1919. Unfortunately, he passed away on November 25, 1927, at his home, the Villa Róma in Kaposvár.
