Amasis II, also known as Ahmose, ruled ancient Egypt during the 26th Dynasty, a period marked by significant upheaval and transformation. As a seasoned military leader, he seized power from King Apries through a bold and decisive move. The historian Herodotus documented Amasis' reign, highlighting his cunning and resourceful approach to governance. While fostering trade relationships with Greece, Amasis implemented strict regulations to maintain control over the lucrative exchange. Archaeologists have uncovered an original granite bust of Amasis II, which dates back to the 6th Century BC and is now on display at the Archaeological Museum in Florence (ORIG2413).
