This head is a cast from a marble bust by Battista Lorenzi, created to adorn Michelangelo's grave in Santa Croce, Florence. Lorenzi's portrait is a rework after a bronze bust by Daniele da Volterra where minor features (position of the eyes, head and clothing) were modified.
