Portrait of Domitian
myminifactory
Titus Flavius Domitianus ruled Rome from 69 to 79 as the last emperor of the Flavian dynasty. Ancient texts and historical evidence portray him as a forceful builder, an interventionist in economic matters, a strict moral authority, and a conventional thinker. Historians generally have held him in low esteem, often focusing on allegations of persecution and biased accounts from Roman senators, whom Domitian distrusted. Despite numerous surviving writings, it appears that insufficient facts exist to form a balanced assessment of his reign. This portrait is linked to AD 82 through comparisons with certain coins found at the Villa Borghese.
