This is a replica of the original Roman marble portrait of the future emperor Caracalla during his time as a young boy. The type is linked to the year 198 AD, when the youthful Caracalla was named "Augustus". The bust was discovered in the residence of the Vestal Virgins within the Roman Forum in Rome and is now stored at the Museo Nazionale (Terme), inventory number 641.
