Portrait of Brutus
myminifactory
This is a replica of the marble original sculpture created in 1538 by Michelangelo Buonarroti. It's now on display at the Bargello museum in Florence. Commissioned by the republican Donato Giannotti for Cardinal Niccolo Ridolfi, it's believed to have been ordered as an honor for Lorenzino de Medici, who had earned notoriety as Brutus after killing his distant cousin, Alessandro with a deadly blow.
