This terracotta lady stands tall, crafted by Giovanni Bastianini in Florence around 1860. Initially believed to be a faithful replica of a vibrant wooden statue housed at the Louvre, attributed to Desiderio da Settignano, new evidence suggests this bust might actually be the original model for the wooden one, while also casting doubt on the authenticity of its supposed counterpart in Paris.
