Portrait of a man at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York
myminifactory
This head with its broad forehead, narrow chin, and long scrawny neck bears an uncanny resemblance to Julius Caesar as he appears on coins and in sculpture, leading many to identify it as that famous general and politician. The man who is the actual subject of the portrait may have intentionally emphasized this likeness because he shared sympathies with Caesar's dictatorship or supported the populares party. This object is part of "Scan The World," a non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory that aims to create a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe for public access.
