Portrait of a Hellenistic Queen Arsinoe III of Egypt (?)

Alexandria (Egypt) was donated by M. Büchner in 1976, a stunning addition to the collection, carved from marble sometime between 220 - 210 BC. While it's impossible to confirm whether this majestic head is indeed a portrait of the Ptolemaic queen, there are some intriguing connections to explore. Coin images and sculptural portraits of Arsinoe III (who ruled from 220 - 204) show a diverse range of likenesses, making it difficult to pinpoint her true likeness. Yet, one cannot deny that this object bears a striking resemblance to Arsinoe III in its narrow eyes and small mouth. This extraordinary piece is part of the groundbreaking "Scan The World" initiative, created by MyMiniFactory as a non-profit endeavor. By contributing to this digital archive, fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe are becoming available for free public access. Scan the World is an open-source community effort, inviting anyone with fascinating objects to share their own stories by emailing stw@myminifactory.com to discover how they can contribute.
