Portrait head from Palmyra

This limestone sculpture of a child is carved in half, offering a glimpse into Roman art from ancient Palmyra; however, the portrait lacks distinct features and appears heavily worked. Given that most Roman portraits from Palmyra functioned as decorative covers for tomb plates, it's logical to assume this head served a similar purpose. A flat plate remnant behind the left ear supports this inference.
