Crafted during the heart of the 3rd century AD and reworked under Theodosius the Great's reign. Large eyes burning with intense focus propel us toward the dawn of Byzantine art. Later, the toga was carved away, likely to strip the figure of its Roman identity and redefine it as a saint or apostle. This theory is supported by the artifact's discovery in the Agora, where Christians worshipped during the 6th century AD.
