Porth y Rhaw Promontory Fort - February 2019 Porth y Rhaw is a complex prehistoric promontory fort located south of St Davids in Pembrokeshire. Coastal and terrestrial erosion have significantly impacted the site, with approximately three-quarters believed to be lost. Today, it remains as two thin 'horn-like' promontories surrounded by intricate networks of banks and ditches featuring two southern entrances. Excavations indicate that the fort originated during the Early to Middle Iron Age, with continued occupation extending into the Roman period. Porth y Rhaw will be closely monitored and investigated by the CHERISH Project to uncover more of its history before further loss occurs.
