The Manueline doorway of the Arruda dos Vinhos Parish Church is one of the most beautiful examples of architectural decoration implemented during King D. Manuel's reign by its own right. In this case, it was part of a local church reform program, a thank you from the monarch to the village that welcomed him during a plague outbreak in the Kingdom's Capital. The doorway, ordered built after the king's death (1521) but before his demise in 1527, retains unique details from its construction timeline, such as adopting human figures (symbolizing the Old and New Testament), making it a Manueline-Renaissance transition portal.
