UPDATE 2/13/17 Revision 2: Long Overdue Updates! Remaking those classic bookends from ages past, but this time around I've had them remade in stainless steel using a high-tech water jet cutting machine. Note though that the vector and source files provided are optimized for use on CNC routers or laser cutters - not what you see here! Now take pleasure in these portal-inspired masterpieces! Instructions 1) Unleash your creativity by creating custom paths with the provided vector file 2) Disassemble each component, making sure to color-code them properly 3) Cut or laser-precision those parts into existence! 4) Combine all components carefully, sealing each edge before final assembly These beauties were crafted using my trusty Shapeoko 2. Settings were: a feed rate of 15 IPM and step-down per pass at 0.02 inches. For optimal spindle speed I went with "high medium," but honestly it was hard to pin down - speed controllers don't usually show you the exact figures, ya know? The design has also incorporated all the right edge clearances using a robust 1/16 inch square end mill for maximum precision and corner clarity!
