Portable Retro Pi Two Player System
thingiverse
I wanted a project that would teach me how to build something functional from scratch, so I'm warning you upfront that this isn't worth printing unless you have an unused Raspberry Pi lying around. It will likely cost just as much or more than a device available on Amazon with a better computer chip than the Raspberry Pi. I don't feel like this project is anywhere near completion, but I figure posting it might inspire someone to create a remake that's improved upon my design. Since I've learned what I set out to learn, I no longer have a need to refine this project further. (*Edit: Oh yeah, I tried adding port names, but there wasn't enough space to make them larger, so they didn't print well. That's why I removed them from the file.) If I were to improve this project, here are some things I would do: 1. Increase the size of the CPU box to provide more interior space for the Raspberry Pi, making it easier to add port extenders without running out of room. 2. Change the external SD Card location so that the top cap piece fits snugly and evenly. 3. Design a panel with hinges that provides easy access to the Raspberry Pi for maintenance and upgrades. 4. Create a design where the pieces snap together seamlessly, eliminating the need for glue or other adhesives.
