Portable Ice Maker repair part: tray interface
thingiverse
This part is for a "Retro" style portable ice maker when the ice cube tray doesn't fully return to the up (fill) position. There is a D-shaped socket on the side of the tray that is easily broken because the motor exerts so much torque on it. After trying to repair it with glue many times, I finally shaved the old off completely and then glued this piece on over it. It also serves as a patch to close up a crack in the tray itself. Instructions: Disassemble the unit and remove the ice cube tray. -Use a Dremel or a bench grinder to shave off the old socket until the side of the tray is fairly flat. -Print this part and make sure it will fit snugly on the motor shaft. -Spread a generous amount of 2 part epoxy such as plastic-weld on the back. -Place the new socket on over the old one, paying close attention to the alignment -Let it cure up overnight, and re-assemble.
