I have a compact workshop in my garden shed, where space is limited. As a result, tools and machinery must be stored away when not in use, and multitasking becomes essential when working with them. When I operate my equipment, I don't employ coolant due to its messy nature - instead, I rely on cutting oil. However, this oil tends to produce smoke while machining parts, frequently filling the workshop. That's where the extractor comes into play. The extractor is a standard 100mm inline bathroom fan mounted on a piece of plywood. The STL files included in this project are the components I designed to make it adjustable and easy to store. These components include: A flanged port that screws into the shed wall A cap for the port, which can be closed when not in use An adaptor tube or coupler for connecting the ducting to the port A ring clamp for securing the ducting's inlet next to the work using an articulated magnetic indicator base A flanged box housing an illuminated rocker switch that controls the extractor This setup allows me to reach any area of the workshop and can be packed away and hung on the wall when not in use. New Files Added 19/03/20 - I modified the duct coupler by adding a small lip at its end, preventing the ducting from slipping off once zip-tied. This is the V2 file. I also created two new inlets: one with a full conical shape and another that's been cut to resemble a hood due to the cone being angled. Both inlets feature the same type of lip as the coupler, preventing duct slippage; both have the base diameter for use with 100mm ducting. 06/04/2020 - New V4 Duct Clamp Part - This uses a single M5 screw for tightening instead of two M3 screws on the previous version.
