Portable Band Saw Conversion Switch Box
thingiverse
I'm sharing my switch box creation, which enables conversion of my portable metal cutting band saw into a table mount vertical band saw. The Harbor freight (BAUER) band saw is the machine in question. This box replaces makeshift holding methods like zip ties and clamps with a more permanent setup, allowing the trigger to be held down securely for use in this configuration. The original speed control remains intact, and operation is simplified by using a basic SPST switch available at most auto parts stores. A wiring diagram and part numbers are included in the pictures provided. Built on my Anet A8 Plus 3D printer, I used a 0.2mm layer height and 25% infill with Hatchbox PLA to create the box. The box features ventilation for airflow and did not overheat during cutting of a 3 inch by 1 inch thick piece of tool steel. To avoid grounding out the board, you'll need to remove the mounting screw under the speed control or use a very flat headed screw.
