The AME Porta-Paddle is a great, lightweight morse code paddle designed for portable use and works very well, as long as you have a flat surface to place it on. That's not always the case, particularly if you're hiking in a park or on a mountain summit. The Porta-Paddle Cradle allows the Porta-Paddle to be used handheld. I have the magnetic base on the paddle which allows the paddle to be attached to a heavy steel base when used at the home station. The Cradle is designed to fit between the paddle and the magnetic base and does not interfere with the steel base.
