Humans have largely phased out portaleds, but they were once very popular not long ago. However, I still find them useful for home experiments that incorporate an LED into a box. At least it provides a better finish, and if the box is metallic, it prevents short-circuiting. It's parametric from Freecad, so it can adapt to any size of LED.
